After meeting at the "Caboose" parking lot in Stone Mountain village we walked into the park via the PATH trail. Once in the park we took the Orange connector trail and the Green Nature Garden trail to the White Cherokee Trail. We took a right on the Cherokee Trail and followed it past the playground and catfish pond until we reached Stonewall Jackson Drive which we followed until we reached the Songbird Habitat area. We didn't have enough time before dark to take all of the trails in the habitat area, but we did hike part of the Meadow Trail and the Woodland Trail. Ralph discovered the accuracy of the fine print on the map, "not to scale", when co-lead Ann pointed out that we were about to take a second tour around part of the Woodland Trail rather than taking the exit path he had intended. We didn't see many songbirds, probably because of the size of our group and the fact that approaching dusk dictated a faster pace. We retraced our steps getting back to the parking lot just before sunset as intended. A few of us stopped by The Village Corner German Restaurant & Bakery in Stone Mountain Village for food, beverage, and conversation before heading home.

I've included a link to Sa's pictures of the hike.
