Write Up:
Got underway not long after 7:30 this cool morning and were met with a nice breeze from the parking lot near the top of Big Kennesaw and from the summit.  Soon everyone was gathering at Burnt Hickory Road for the short break.  We went from there and opted to do an extended 2.5 mile or so hike to an obscure section of the park not well traveled.  It was basically an in-and-out set of dead-ends on park boundaries, but it included a field with a good view of Little Kennesaw about a half mile away.  We cut across another field and took the Pigeon Hill bypass ending up at the base of Little Kennesaw.  Here we muscled back up Little Kennesaw over the hump in the middle, then up Big Kennesaw.  We synced up on top of Big Kennesaw for a minute or so when it began to sprinkle.  Not liking the rain too much, many of us scurried down the mountain back to the visitor's center where we started.  All in all we hiked around 7.5 to 8 fitness miles this morning.  Great group and great hiking weather!
