Write Up:
A small but energetic group joined me for a spin around the Cherokee Trail at Stone Mountain this past Saturday afternoon. We maintained a brisk pace and paid our dues for the extra calories packed on during the Thanksgiving holiday. The weather was partly sunny and the temperature was ideal for hiking. We made the big loop in about 2 hours at somewhere around a 2.75 mile per hour pace. Two members of our party took me up on a summit climb to the top of Stone Mountain, getting in that final burn and showing the mountain who's boss!

The afternoon start time of 1:30 seemed to work well. Folks could sleep in, have a nice lunch and then show up for a hike. I hope to do more of these at Stone Mountain in the future. People are always surprised at the nice, scenic trail around the mountain. And the climb up to the top is a nice challenge. Thanks to  Garret, Lindsay, Jeff and new AOC member Linda for joining me - you all were great!
