Write Up:

what a beautiful day for a nice, long walk in the woods. Six strong hikers and one dog started at Hogpen gap on the Georgia AT. A foggy start, it quickly burned off we enjoyed a roller coaster of ascents and descents all day long with a final arrival at the destination, Chattahoochee gap, the headwaters of the famed river and trail junction with Jacks Knob trail. After having a nice lunch and conversing with other hikers walking though the area, we headed back the same way we came. The trail was quite busy this day with everyone from bear hunters to a large group of teenagers enjoying an overnight trip at Low Gap shelter. a 19 mile and 3,500 ft elevation gain, it was a very ejoyable day on the trail.
