Fun on Tray Mountain! The leaves are turning in north Georgia and the colors at higher altitudes are splendid. We hiked from Andrews Cove - an enchanting mountain dell -  on a lightly used 2 mile trail to reach the AT at Indian Grave Gap. This blue-blazed trail was an October "trick or treat": the first portion was a scenic treat, but the last half mile was a grueling ascent until reaching Indian Gap. Turning onto the AT, we kept going up until reaching Tray Gap, where a full-blown Halloween party was in progress. A few minutes later we summited Tray Mountain and made our way down the other side a bit furtherf to the kinda-hard-to-find overlook. This is where we enjoyed lunch and an exquisite panoramic overlook, one of the finest mountain vistas in all Georgia. Making our way back to the AT, we headed NOBO a bit further until we reached the Tray Mountain Shelter where we paid homage to its privy. We then returned SOBO, heading back up summit and then retraced our steps down to Andrews Cove.
