What a great park. Generally considered the most pituresque park in the state and we agree. The weather couldn't have been better. Arrived around noon and set up camp. The sites were nice and level and close enough yet enough space for privacy. Didn't hear Deanna giggle even once. We had a nice hike up and down and around the canyon on the West rim trail. covered about 5 miles total and 1,100 feet of elevagion gain. Not too much but a good workout. Mark and Sonia showe everbody up with a killer beef and rice dish which they generously shared feeling sorry for our lesser meals. The temperature dropped fast after sundown from 70's to low 40's. We burned about half a cord of wood and roates marshmellows and pigged out on smores. Hit the sack about 11 PM where John and Deanna learned the importance of a sleeping pad. The ground was so cold that they got up in the middle of the night to build a fire. Had one incident at the waterfall. A lady fell and broke her wrist and a couple of fingers on the rocks. Luckily Adrienne of our group is an orthopedic nurse and rendered aid as there were no other medical personel around. Mark even had tape and a splint. Sunday morning it was a short two mile loop on the backcountry trail the we said our good byes and headed home. GREAT TRIP. Check out the pics.
