Write Up:

Our group of 12 hikers had a fun time at Piedmont Park, including five new members - Jarrett, Angie, Matthew, Kaysha, and Allison!  We walked along the various paths around and throughout the park appreciating the full foliage of the trees and enjoying the sounds of the songbirds.  The squirrels were out in full force busily scurrying this way and that as they gathered and partook of their latest acorn finds.

There were bursts of laughter and splashing emitting from the community pool in the center of the park.  Many people were about enjoying the sporting events that dotted the area, including tennis, volleyball, baseball, and dodge ball.  Others were throwing Frisbees, tossing footballs, or playing badminton.  Still a few were found lazily lounging on the freshly cut lawns under the shade of the trees seemingly unaware of the kites drifting high overhead.

We made our way on paths shared by skaters, bikers, and runners.  This park has something for everyone to enjoy!  Lively conversation filled the air as people met and made new friends.  We laughed and talked along the trails and enjoyed the sunny day together.

Later, half of the group stayed to enjoy the festivities in the Meadow.  We found a nice spot on the sloping lawn to place our blankets as we set in to enjoy our picnic goodies.  Music filled the air as more people gathered in the park.  A few of us were able to score free Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and cow toys.  We laughed as we watched a field full of dancers do the Electric Slide and a couple other fun dances.  Throughout the crowds others joined in with their own versions of the dances.  We had a good group and a good time.
