We met early at the Park and Ride to travel to Springer Mountain and start our hike. We all agreed to hike up to the top of Springer Mtn. to see where the Appalachian Trail begins. The boulders were still there but it was overcast and the great view was not to be seen. From there we went to Springer Shelter to check it out. Then we went to the BMT Trailhead to begin our hike. The trees were like walking through a dreamland, they were all covered with ice. It was a sight to behold. We hiked on down to where the BMT crosses the A T, Everyone was hungry and we went to Stover Creek Shelter for lunch. After lunch it started to drizzle a little but we decided to hike down to Long Creed Falls. This was not scheduled, but was well worth the extra mileage. Since two of us stayed back with Bruce (Mr. Waterfalls) we saw an extra waterfall and by then the rain had stopped. Long Creek Falls was very impressive. We stayed there for a while and then started our hike back. It was a long steep hike back to the parking lot. All and all everyone had a great hike.If you were not able to make the hike you missed a great time. See you on the trail soon.
