The weather forecast called for scattered storms, but luckily none crossed the path of the Granite Monster.  The temperature, although definately high summer, was bearable (comparatively) and we bravely hiked the face of the mountain in the setting sun.  Was a pretty large group, but Al was a great co-lead, and since its a simple hike, the large number only made the evening more enjoyable.
We found a lovely breeze up there above the city, but somehow never managed the last twenty feet to the summit (smile).  New friends were made and we all nibbled a bit and watched the last of the sun color the sky and then headed on down the rockface in the glow of the almost full moon.
