This write-up is penned by trip leader Katherine. We were lucky today -- we had perfect weather conditions for our hike. We dodged potential rain storms! Pine Mountain is one of my favorite places to hike in metro Atlanta and I was happy to co-lead this event with Greg. We enjoyed scenic views from atop the David Archer Overlook of Lake Allatoona. We also enjoyed views of the lake and the Allatoona dam from another observation point along the trail. The group also stopped at historic Cooper's Furnace for a quick break and photos. After our 8.72-mile hike, some of us grabbed BBQ at Fire It Up, which is a locally owned restaurant in Cartersville. We had a fun group and had a great time!
