Write Up:
We met at 7:45 at the Indian Creek park and ride and proceeded North to Beech Creek Trail Head. We hiked about 4 miles to Chimney Rock.Four of us climbed up the rock and what a great view, but only one made it to the Summit. After taking in the view for a while we made our way down the rock and back to the trail. We then walked for about an hour to Case Knife Gap where we proceeded up Fork Ridge to the Appalachian Trail and then North West to Standing Indian Mountain, the main destination of our trip and had lunch. What a view from the mountain top.We had to hurry and finish lunch and enjoying the view, before the flying insects carried us off. We went back to the Appalachian Trail where we hiked to Deep Gap and then proceeded down Deep Gap Trail . We encountered several creek crossings and arrived back to our car and the long drive back to Atlanta. If you missed this one you missed a great hike and the weather was great.Hope to see everyone on the trail soon.
