Mon, Oct 6 2025 - Monday Morning at Simpsonwood Park (View Original Event Details)

Well, my rain bubble burst this morning. Those darn weather-folks. They indicated no rain this morning, but their forecast was wrong. As we began our hike, we got a lot of rain drops, but they were from the wet trees. After a while, we had to admit that it wasn't the trees dripping - - it was raining. It sprinked for quite a while during our hike, more aggravating than drenching. Admittedly, we need rain, but I hate that I promised a dry hike and I got it wrong.
We covered a lot of trails in the park, and it really didn't matter that I was lost most of the time. We passed by the chapel and the chimney, we walked along the creek, and we walked the trail by the Chattahoochee. We hiked less than the planned 5 miles, but the rain dampened my enthusiasm, so I cut the hike short a bit.
It was great to have newbies with us today (Courtney, Abby, and Yang), and it was great to see Beth after a long hiatus.
Simpsonwood is a beautiful park . . . and one day, I hope to successfully find the Labyrinth!
Thanks to Lee for the photos he added to the album. ~ Joyce
