Hike Highlight: Cooper’s Hike to Cooper’s Furnace via Pine Mountain
Today, we enjoyed another fantastic group hike in one of North Georgia’s popular destinations—Pine Mountain/Cooper’s Furnace area in Cartersville.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather, with a starting temperature around 30°F, sunny skies, and no chance of rain. Our group covered around 8.3 miles with approximately 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
Starting right on time at 8:30 a.m., our great group of 12 headed up the Backpacking Trail on Pine Mountain toward the David Archer Overlook. From there, we made our way down to Cooper’s Furnace for a short snack break. Next came the big climb up to the Visitor Center, where we stopped for a group photo at the overlook above Allatoona Dam.

We wrapped up our 3.5-hour trek right on schedule at noon, returning to the trailhead parking lot.
After the hike, some of us enjoyed a little extra social time over a delicious lunch at local favorite Fire It Up Barbecue—a spot that may become a regular stop for future hikes in the area!
Cheers, and thanks to everyone who joined us today. Keep on hiking! 🥾🌄
