We parked at the Pigeon Hill parking lot and checked in. We did an explanation of today’s workplan, and In addition to us we had 83 volunteers from Hillgrove JROTC, Lassiter, Kell, and Pope JROTC (one unit) two KSU clubs, two companies, and individuals that helped. We also had 8 other crew leaders, 7 ambassadors handling registration and parking, and two of the park’s PSARs patrolling the trails with us moving 10’ fence rails up and down the mountain.
We replaced, repaired, and removed fencing in seven locations from the bridge on Pigeon Hill to about two thirds of the way up Little Kennesaw, about 1.5 miles. We were split into three groups. Kirsten led the third group toward the top of Little Kennesaw where they removed and repaired fencing in that location upon completion, they removed the fencing at the switchback on Little Kennesaw and replaced it with new fencing. As a note, the stone steps at that location that need repaired are scheduled to be repaired on July 11. Mike roamed between the three groups, ensuring they were working safely and following the workplan.
