Write Up:
Kudos to Jimmy on his solo lead before becoming an AOC Trip Leader. This hike was a job well done - thoughtfully planned and carefully managed. Jimmy checked everyone's footwear so he knew we were all capable of navigating the occasional rock scramble and the leafy, steep sections of the trails. Jimmy hiked the route the day before so he was able to warn us of the loose rock in the center of our creek crossing. His attention to detail made the hike safe and fun.

This D2 "social hike" was great for beginners and provided us all an opportunity to chat and get to know one another. Our group was very diverse. Danelle and Ellen are brand new to the AOC, and this was their first event. Aaron joined the AOC in 2009 and has attended over 60 events. John (a Trip Leader and one of the AOC's new official photographers) has been a member since 2008. Tom and I have been in the club a year and are now planning our solo leads.

Everyone appreciated the occasional ridge ascension when we got our blood pumping as much as we liked stopping to admire the rain-swollen Chattahoochee, impressive rock formations and abundant vegetation. As dusk settled over the park, some folks headed home and others off to change for the trivia portion of the event to take place later at North River Tavern. Jimmy, Joan, Tom and I hiked an additional mile or so before going our separate ways.
