Write Up:

Our weekend on Cumberland Island was great - the weather was sunny and dry, there were no mosquitoes, no raccoons, the ocean was warm for long swims - and everyone came with a great attitude to explore and relax.

Most of us arrived on Thursday evening and got the weekend started off with socializing at the Riverview Motel, in St Mary's.  We were a bit concerned about the number of mosquitoes that there were in St Mary's, but once we got on the island the next day, we didn't experience any more.

Our group was initially assigned just one campsite, but we asked for another so we could spread out some and have more space to store our food in the raised bins; we had camp 11 and 12; these are closest to the beach, with a "backdoor" trail to the bathrooms and water, so we were really happy about that, very convenient.  We did our cooking together in # 12, some notable meals and drinks were prepared by Brandolyn - shish kabobs; Bob - steak, salmon, corn on the cob; Bindu - daily chai for her, Brett and John.

Overall I think everyone left the island having done what they wanted to do whether it was a relaxing time in camp reading, a fast paced hiked to the bottom of the island, a stroll among the horses and dunes with the camera, a long swim and hanging out talking with others in the warm water, watching the moon set, watching the sun rise.  Such beauty and we're so lucky to get to experience it!

I appreciate everyone who came on the trip!  Thank you for all your help to my long time friend and co-leader Michael; Bob, thanks for your great humor and (for bringing your stove!).  It was good to meet new folks and get to know others better.  I can't speak for everyone, but I think this was a great group, and I look forward to seeing you all again!

P.S. Bob picked up a tent pole sleeve that had been left on the picnic
table. He can bring it to the social if it belongs to anyone.
