Write Up:
Our early evening hike began with a tour of the Nature Garden Trail, tucked under the canopy of Oak, Hickory, and Tulip Poplar trees. We quickly finished the loop and made our way out of the woods along the railroad tracks per Charlie Cottingham's suggestion. After a short break, our intrepid band of hikers wasted no time getting to the top of Stone Mountain around 8:00. This gave us about 15 minutes to lounge around before watching the sun sink below the horizon. Thanks to John Christopher for sharing his photographs of this event.

Our group of 15 hikers included 4 new AOC members and several Atlantans who had never before climbed Stone Mountain. Thank you all for making my first solo lead a very enjoyable experience.
