Write Up:
Perfect weather and a perfect group of hikers. We did our good deed for the day at the halfway point, where some prankster had turned the signpost so that the arrow to Yellow Mountain pointed to the side trail. We restored the sign to where it belonged and directed three lost hikers to the correct trail. At the summit we drank in the view for a long time, and then scrambled back to our cars in very good time. Comparing two GPS readings, we discovered that we had hiked not 9.8 miles, as reported on the hike listing, but 10.2, and we had gained not 2500 feet of elevation but 2960 feet, according to one GPS, and over 3000, according to the other. So, for the record, I changed the original hike listing to reflect the correct numbers. A solid D5.
