Write Up:

Our group of nineteen AOC'ers had a great time kayaking on Section Four of the Chattahoochee River this past Saturday morning.  Although we got caught in a brief thunderstorm about ten minutes into our trip, the sun eventually came out and it turned into a beautiful day.

Section Four goes from the Duncan Bridge Outpost near Cleveland, GA, down to Mossy Creek and is about five miles long.  There were a good number of rapids and even with the low water levels we managed quite well overall.  The river itself was quite pretty and we didn't see any other groups during our trip so it was quiet and peaceful.

Along the way we spotted large groups of Canadian Geese, a Blue Heron, jumping fish and ducks.  Our Kayaks were quite flat, with no keels, so they had a tendency to want to spin around in flat water.  This made them a little more challenging to navigate, resulting in a pretty good workout. They were terrific on the rapids, though, since that is what they are designed for.

Thanks to everyone who came out to join us. We look forward to more paddling trips in the future!
