Write Up:

What a day today!  I am sure many fellow AOC'ers were outside doing something today.  If not, then shame on you!!  The weather couldn't have been better for a bike ride.  It was so cool and crisp this morning.  Great day for just about anything outdoors.

Amy Cox, Harry Falise and Earl Conway joined me today for a scenic, yet brisk 31-mile bike ride beginning and ending at Sosebee Cycling Park (www.sosebeecyclingpark.com).

For those of you not aware of this place, the owners are road bikers themselves and made this area open to road bikers.  It's free to use and donations keep it running.  You can drink water, use a portalet for the bathroom, and they also have changing rooms and plenty of parking.

A good write-up of the park is here:

Anyway, we biked at a good pace (averaged about 16 mph - with several stops) and enjoyed scenic, open highways with hardly any cars at all.  It's a great place to ride.  Lots of challenging hills and plenty of places to "open the throttle" and bike 35mph if you feel like it.

So, if you're tired of dodging walkers, joggers, baby strollers and little kids on the Silver Comet Trail, you must come up to Cartersville and ride these loops.  The BBC mapped and marked 15, 31, 45, 66 and 100 mile loops.

After of our ride, we headed over to downtown Cartersville where we met up with Joyce Taaffe and her group of AOC hikers.  They did the Pine Log Lake Trail hike today.  Our group and her group convened for a great lunch at Shweat's Market.

Stay tuned, as Harry, Amy and I will be teaming up to offer more biking events for the AOC down the road.  We hope you can ride with us in the future!
