In the end, there were four of us, Rich, John, Tucker the border collie, and I, and we hiked beyond Kelly's Knob to Addis Gap, exploring everything of interest along the way, for a total of 12 miles and 3700 ft of  elevation gain. The weather was stupendous: an early autumn day, with cool temperatures, slight breeze, azure sky, and infinite visibility. Unfortunately, the luxuriant foliage constricted the views, but we'll do this again once the leaves are down, and then we'll see along one stretch of trail Standing Indian to Rabun Bald, along another stretch Tray to Brasstown, and yet another stretch Tusquittee Bald to Wayah Bald. For the record, Tucker is a fantastic hiker.
