This was a great adventure for all of us, being the longest (almost 18 miles) and coldest (in the 20s) hike most of us have ever accomplished.  The skies were clear and the sun was strong reflecting off the newly fallen snow.  The majestic view from the top of Siler Bald was truly worth the effort.  John declared this was his favorite hike EVER.  Jillian proved to us that it IS possible to successfully jump right into the AOC with a D5 as your debut hike.   I’m including pictures graciously provided by John, Charles, and Mike, our hike photographers.  We all had a lot of fun checking out the Waslick poplar, but why is Jessica hiding behind the tree?  Matthew, freezing, finally lead the way out of the woods, but he did invite us to the Mayfield dairy for ice cream this summer.  Stay tuned as we're saving that for a hot day in July.
