Thanks to everyone who went backpacking this past weekend. Our adventure started out at Warwoman Dell Recreation Area in Clayton, Ga. During the easy-moderate 2 mile hike on the Bartram Trail, we passed by Becky branch falls and then we were graced by the presence of 2 copperheads crossing the trail and a black snake before we reached our campsite. Apparently there was another copperhead somewhere in the mix, but I didn't see him.

The campsite we chose was very spacious, flat and right on Martins Creek, so we had easy access to a water source and were literally 200ft. from the falls. After setting up camp, we took an optional hike to Pinnacle Knob, which overlooked the city of Clayton. 3 miles R/T, but Chris and I had to carry my dogs (Miss Maggie May and Kobie) for almost half of the hike and straight uphill. Poor little guys couldn't make it. The view was nice and we hung out for awhile before heading back to camp. Rob and Tom were kind in sharing cheese and crackers, which apparently has become an AOC tradition (thanks to my buddy Bruce and his P-town trip. I guess I need to remember that because it was nice to pass around and share among the group. Also a big thanks to Rob for sharing that wonderfully cooked shrimp.. Yummy! As the night went on, the fire got larger, the "pick a topic-alphabet game" got more interesting and the group got a little more creative each answer they came up with. BUT, then the alcohol ran out... haha.. Just kidding. Honestly, it was a pretty low-key evening except for well, I won't mention names, but you know who you are... falling in the creek at 3:30 in the morning. You could have broken a limb or cracked a skull! Remember to carry that headlamp next time. :)

In the morning, everyone had breakfast at staggering times and then started the task of packing up. Since it's only 2 miles out, we had some leave before others and Chris, Tony and myself were the last to leave camp. Tom and Hilke headed home from the parking area, but the rest of us went for Mexican next to the Burger King in Clayton... Ehhh.. it was ok, but not sure I would eat there again.

Thanks again for another memorable adventure. If you have any pictures that you would like to share with the group, please let me know and I will forward them on. Below are some of the pics that were taken. Enjoy.
