Our trip gave us lots to see and do. Saturday we hiked about 9 miles to our camp. We started and followed Shining Rock Creek the first 4 miles to Shining Rock itself. A 6,000'+ peak with a summit made our of quartz. This quartz is visible from miles away. After enjoying the views and a short break we left for our last 5 miles. The first 1.5 miles were on the Art Loeb Trail where we hiked over Flower Knob (just under 6,000') and Grassy Top Cove (just over 6,000')to Ivestor Gap. After the gap we left the Art Loeb and hiked along a side trail to the Mountain to Seas Trail which took us our final 2 miles ot camp. Camp was next to a large waterfall.

That night temperatures got down to 15 degrees by 9:30pm. The fire kept us warm until it was bed time. The next day we hiked a few miles to check out the upper falls. Some of it was frozen and gave a different perspective to nature. After returning to camp we hiked the last 5.5 miles back to the cars passing over another smaller waterfall that flowwed through a narrow rock creavase. We followed the river back to the cars.

2 long days but lots of scenary and views to be had. Not to many trips you can summit 3 peaks, see 3 nice waterfalls, and hike along 2 rivers in 2 days.
