We lucked out in dodging both downpours and lightening storms. For the first part of the hike we walked through clouds, and then a breeze sprang up, opening the skies to the sun.

We encountered wild boar at Deep Gap, fortunately not in the flesh but near enough to get their stench. Thankfully they didn't rouse themselves to attack us for disturbing them. They totally chewed up the forest floor in the entire area. That's the end of the yellow trilliums there.

At the top of Kelly, Dan dashed off through the undergrowth to bag the peak and add it to his personal collection of GA's highest peaks. And he has only been in GA a few months!

We finished the day at the Universal Joint. Good group!
