Write Up:
A group of 16, many being new members to the club and first time hikers, gathered to enjoy a beautiful sunny day of hiking on the Unicoi/Helen Trail. Our travels took us up to the Unicoi Lodge where we were entertained by the unusual sounds of peasant and turkey calls. The lodge was having it's annual 2008 NWTF Sanctioned Calling Contest...they were calling something, because we all had to gather in there to look and see what was going on. After a short break, we hiked back to downtown Helen where a group of us shared a nice meal on the outdoor patio of the Safari Steakhouse and couldn't resist heading down the street to buy fudge and caramel apples.
