Write Up:

It was a large group of 15, but everyone was in a great mood and eager to get some exercise and social interaction.  The day began a bit chilly and overcast, but it soon brightened into full sunshine and warmth. There wasn't any whining as we covered all that the park had to offer - - the Ravine Loop Trail and Ravine Overlook, the Indian burial mounds, the Beech Tree Trail, the meadow overlook, the West and East equestrian trails, the lake, and the pond. We covered over 8 miles in 3.5 hours (including a leisurely break for lunch at the meadow overlook).  Joe guided us to the West equestrian trail through an uncharted shortcut, thereby avoiding some of the asphalt path around the lake.

There was an abundance of wildlife spotted along the way - - deer, birds, a Great Blue heron, ducks, dogs, and even a fuzzy caterpillar!

I sure wish this park were closer to East Cobb.  It's one of my favorite places to hike! ~ Joyce
